Hello and Welcome. I am a Philadelphia-based early childhood educator and curriculum developer. I am committed to the belief that children are active participants in the learning process, making sense of their world by creating, manipulating, and problem-solving. I utilize elements of the Montessori and Reggio-Emilia frameworks in my practice, emphasizing the connection between autonomy and self-confidence.
I started my education career as a violin instructor of the renowned Suzuki Method, which espouses that children as young as three can learn to play just as they learn to speak: through repetition, encouragement, and practice. Wanting to expand beyond the music realm, I received my Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. Currently, I am the lead instructor in a mixed-grade Head Start classroom in South Philadelphia. My students are exclusively low-income and 95% English Language Learners, representing over seven different linguistic backgrounds. I am honored to work alongside a team of translators and social service coordinators to ensure that our students receive holistic services, including access to physical and mental healthcare. Whether in the classroom or developing curriculum, I am constantly reflecting on my practice to best meet learners' needs.
